Reflecting on a Strange Year
I always find this time of year a bit strange. The empty space between Christmas and New Year where it feels like a kind of limbo but also full of promise. I love to sit down and plan for the New Year but I think it is also an excellent time to reflect on the year than is just about to end. And what a year this last one has been!
I don’t think any of us could’ve predicted 2020. So full of promise, the beginning of a new decade and also a new version of the ‘roaring twenties’, but alas it has been less roaring and more of a false start. I’m not going to sit here and write about how awful this year has been though. I think we all know and to be honest I have felt a lot of gratitude this year. I would like to reflect on some of the better parts of the year and go into 2021 with a positive (albeit cautious) attitude.
Some things I did in 2020:
Became Independent
I started escorting in 2019 but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2020 that I took the leap and became an independent companion and I am loving the freedom it allows. Of course there was a learning curve and it’s taken me a while to get use to answering my own phone and emails and learning how to spot someone who is just there to waste my time, but I have met some wonderful gentlemen and am very excited to meet more of you in the New Year!
Birthday in Dubai
I got VERY lucky with this one. I’ve always wanted to visit Dubai, I love the heat, I love shopping, I love a bit of luxury! In 2019 some friends of mine actually moved to Dubai and once they settled in I decided it was a great opportunity to go and visit them, cross Dubai off my bucket list (with some great tour guides as well!) and celebrate my birthday in a way I wouldn’t forget! My birthday is in March and so I was very fortunate to travel and be back just before the whole world started to lockdown. I had a great time, eating loads of fantastic food, swimming in rooftop swimming pools and shopping in the world’s biggest malls and looking back, cannot believe my luck at getting a holiday in 2020!
Started (and finished) an OnlyFans
Once we were officially locked down, I decided to give online content creation a try. I started a Twitter account (@abbylexington) and shortly after decided to take the plunge and create an OnlyFans. I had a great time doing it. Taking pictures in my many lingerie sets, dressing up and even making videos for my subscribers to enjoy. This was an amazing way to entertain myself (and my housemate who I roped in to help!) during lockdown and I was so pleased with the photos and videos we produced given our lack of knowledge and equipment! However, lockdown came to an end, at least for a while, and real life resumed. I started going on dates again and suddenly prancing about in my underwear in my bedroom seemed a little less exciting. I am very proud of the content I created and I feel like I learned so much but am happy that now my OnlyFans is more of an archive of my life during that weird time.
Making Friends
Making friend in this industry is actually harder than you would think. It’s not often that we meet one another (unless we get lucky enough to do a duo!) and so when we do it’s extra fun. After lockdown, I was lucky enough to meet a few girls in the industry and love having girlfriends to talk to about my secret double life who understand what it’s like to have a secret and can give me tips on where to get the best lingerie!
Christmas in London
An unforeseen one and a last minute change of plans (as was the case for many of us). I didn’t think I would be spending Christmas in London but actually my housemate and I had a lovely day. The weather was beautiful and we went on a lovely dog walk in the park. I of course wore my Christmas jumper which was much admired! We ordered Chinese takeaway just because we could and it somehow felt sort of naughty having takeaway on Christmas Day and then we drank lots of fizz and watched terrible films. All in all a fantastic, if unexpected, day.
